Mother

Poem by Bradleigh Brown,
10-year-old daughter of Penny Brown

The tears were pouring faster than river rapids, and yet my face was dry.

The world was spinning, and yet my feet were not moving off the ground.

People were smiling all around me, and yet there was no happiness.

People were talking all around, and yet I heard nothing.

Music was playing all around me, and  yet I only heard sad words.

My heart is broken - terrible, and yet it is perfectly normal.

I looked at pictures and all I thought was how times changed.
